WWE NXT 5/14/2024

WWE NXT 5/14/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/05/wwe-nxt-572024.html

Noam Dar is down injured in the back. Meta-Four and others check on him.

Kiana James and Izzi Dame talk in the back. Kiana asks if she's ready to for tonight. She says she's a superstar and says Izzi will run NXT while she runs Raw.

Sol Ruca said she ranked #1 in the combine and will ride that ladder straight to Vegas and become the Women's North American champ.

Women's North American Championship Qualifier - Sol Ruca vs Izzi Dame

Izzi shoulders her over and piefaces her. Sol shoulders her over. Izzi pushes down on Sol's head. Sol is grounded with a wristlock. Sol cartwheels out of a wristlock and hits a water wheel drop. Sol hits kicks then misses a 2nd rope flipping facebuster but they sell it anyway. Sol handstands on the apron then moonsaults off the 2nd rope connector outside.

Sol gets her headscissors blocked in the corner and is thrown out. Sol is thrown onto the commentary table. Izzi backbreakers her then flapjacks her. Sol shoulders Izzi over and springboard twisting shoulders her. Sol standing moonsaults her for 2.

Sol flips out of a back body drop and lands hard on her feet.  Izzi facekicks her for 2. Izzi hits corner spears. Sol tries to headscissors her out of the corner, is caught then hits a sol snatcher out of it to win it.

Thoughts: It was a pretty good effort here with Sol doing some impressive flying. I would have liked more of a story to the match though and more of Izzi dominating Sol to make Cole's comeback and win better.

Ava Raine tells The D'Angelo Family that the win last week doesn't count as they took a ref out and put their own in. Ava asks where Myles Borne and Damon Kemp are. Tony and Stacks say they don't know. The Family tries to tell Ava they can't take away his Heritage Cup match tonight. She says she will fine him $20,000. They then give Ava an envelope with the money. Tony says Ava is tough but fair and says no funny business tonight.

Edris Enofe and Malik Blade talk in the back. Blade is ready and Enofe says he needs to get this mind right. Enofe is looking at a rabbit's foot and says he will be good. Brinley Reece comes in. She says they don't need the rabbit's foot, they are awesome.

Shayna Baszler and Lola Vice are interviewed. She said all she knows is dominance. She said she held the NXT Title more days than anyone else. She said she's staying to see Lola vs Green. Lola says she owes Roxanne Perez from Vengeance Day then Karmen Petrovic and Natalya jump Lola and SB. Carlee Bright tries to break the fight up and is sent into the rollaway door.

Out The Mud (Bronco Nima and Lucian Price) vs Edris Enofe and Malik Blake

Scrypts is still in OTM's graphic despite being released. Nim and blade squash off. Nima coconut crushes him and hits a back blow. Nima is tripped into a slingblade bulldog. Enofe elbow drops Nima. Enofe hits shots on Price then Price hits wild bolo punches on him. Blade and Enofe dosey do and hit forearms.

Price and Nima re hurricanrana'd into each other and stereo dropkicked out. Blade and Enofe then do tope con hilos outside and Blade basically powerbombs himself onto the floor as the catch is missed. Jaida trips Enofe then Brinley goes after Jaida. Nima spinning back elbows Enofe. The men try to stop the girls from fighting.

We go to break and return. Nima drops Enofe down chest first. The girls fight again and refs come out to break it up. Enofe takes a sandwich forearm in the corner. Price uranages Enofe then corner lariats him. Price crossfaces him while Enofe is in the wheelbarrow.

Nima hits back elbows on Enofe. Enofe tags in Blade. Bale flying forearms and jumping headhunters his opponents. Blade top rope double crossbodies his opponents. Nima misses a facekick on Blade but both go over the top. Enofe dropkicks Price then Price superkicks Enofe. Enofe's shoe is coming off and he tries to kick it off. Enofe is lifted into an alabama slam and wins it.

Thoughts: Nima wore a bandana the whole match here. I wonder if something is up with his hair. Blade's shoe was falling off the during the match. I don't like Nima using spinning back elbows as it's a hard move to hit clean. The girls fighting took away from the match a bit and the match itself probably would have been better without it. I thought this one could have been better.

Noam Dar is being checked on in the back. The medic says he's done indefinitely. Oro Mensah says he will step up for Dar. They ask why Lash Legend thinks Trick didn't do this.

Axiom, Nathan Frazer and Ridge Holland talk in the back. Ridge  says Chase U are all sound people. The OC walk in. They say Frazer and Axiom are ducking them. They say Ridge is a loner with an anger problem. Gallows says Ridge is a main roster talent that needs to leave NXT and says he isn't pure. Ridge said he started in NXT unlike them. Gallows says him picking a fight with them is the anger talking and tells to find a partner for tonight. Anderson says the angry brother has no friends.

Women's North American Championship Qualifier - Ivy Nile vs Lash Legend

Lash running euros her to start. Lash hits shoulders and throws Ivy into the 2nd buckle shoulder first. Lash slams her on the floor. Lash goes into the steps then Ivy forearms her off the apron. Ivy top rope crossbodies her. Icy spinning high kicks her then spinning headscissors her. Ivy flying kicks her in the corner.

Lash throws her into the buckles then splashes her. Lash's head is pulled into the buckles and Ivy enzugiri's her. Ivy hits forearms on her on the buckles then Ivy top rope bulldogs her for 2. Ivy dragon sleepers her and Jakara grabs Ivy's leg. Ivy kicks her, is dropped on her chest then Lash pump kicks her to win it.

Thoughts: It was a short match and it wasn't anything special.

Je'Von Evans is asked if he attacked Noam Dar. He says he doesn't know but it wasn't him or Trick. He said it's about to get real wicked against Oro Mensah next.

Carlee Bright says she wants Lola Vice tonight. She said she's new here. Ava said she finished 13th in the Combine. Carlee says she wants her chance and says she can fight Lola tonight. Ava then gets a call.

Je'Von Evans vs Oro Mensah

Oro boots and clubs on him to start. Evans hits punches, Oro misses a flipping koppo kick and is dropkicked in the back. Evans' eyes are raked on the top rope and Oro asai moonsaults him. Evans jumps off the 2nd rope and hurricanrana's him. Evans dropkicks him. Evans takes a super dangerous bump to the outside that should have never been allowed.

We go to PiP break and return. Oro clubs on Evans. They trade shots and Oro koppo kicks him. Oro hits an alley oop for 2. They fight on the buckles and Evans enzugiri's him. Evans springboard lariats him. They trade shots. Oro back elbows him then Evans hits an os cutter. Evans suicide dives him.

Lash grabs a chair. Trick Williams comes down and has words for her. Oro pounds on Evans then spinning forearms him in the back of the neck. Evans spin kicks him then is punched. Evans superkicks him then does a tornillo splash to win.

Thoughts: It was an athletic match with a lot of flying. I would have liked more face and heel work here. The stuff with Trick and Lash took a lot of the attention off the match though which limited this some. Evans and Trick being put together is kind of like Trick/Melo redone but I think it'll be fine.

Charlie Dempsey is interviewed. He says Kemp and Myles are on their way but are in rough shape from The Family. He said he can cry about it or fight. He said he never cried about anything in his life. He said he will beat Tony within an inch of his life for everything he has done.

Wes Lee comes out to talk. He said he was in one of the darkest times of his life last time he was here with a mic. He said everyone knows how much he loves NXT and how much the NXT N-A Title means with him. He said him losing it made him question whether his career was over or not. He said he missed this.

He said he fought to get back here and doesn't know what to say. Oba Femi comes out. Oba says he's impressed with Wes. He said Wes took the title far with his reign, but his time is up. He said Wes must watch him take the title to new heights. He said Wes has proven he has the spirit of the warrior. Oba says he's an actual warrior and the mountain he can't climb or conquer. He tells him to prove that he deserves an opportunity to get the title back.

Wes puts him over then Ivar comes out. Ivar says everyone is excited to have Wes back. He said he's been through a career ending injury too. He said he had to fight for everything he has got and said he knows Wes isn't afraid to do it too. Ivar says they both want shots at Oba.

Josh Briggs comes out. He says they are all so emotional. He says he was close to taking Oba's title with broken ribs. He said his ribs are healed and he needs to run that back. He says he will throw Wes and Ivar a bone when he's champ. Wes says Oba should make this a fatal four way. Oba says that's why he is the champ and Wes is not. He says to fight amongst yourselves and the winner fights him.

Ridge Holland is interviewed. Chase U comes in and said they don't have to fight the battle alone. Chase says Riley should be his partner tonight. Riley is surprised by this but Ridge is okay with it. Riley says he will see him out there.

We get a video of someone, likely Wendy Choo, sleeping in the dark.

Lexis King, Dion Lennox and others talk in the back. He says he got a victory over the Big Dookie and is on fire. He said he should take everyone out after his win this week. Jazmyn Nix wants everyone to sign a get well soon card for Jacy Jayne. Everyone leaves except for King. King says not to worry about them. He says Jamie wouldn't care. She says it's Jacy and he says she wouldn't mind either. King then signs it, "get well soon, Jacky".

Ridge Holland and Riley Osborne vs The OC

Luke and Ridge go at it. They shoulder battle and Ridge flying shoulders him. Karl armlocks Riley. Riley rolls over his back and dropkicks Karl. Riley springboard dropkicks Luke then running ssp's Karl.

Karl spinebusters Riley for 2. Karl pounds on him then Luke pounds on Riley. Luke slams Riley and chinlocks him. Riley is thrown hard into the buckles. Riley corkscrew moonsaults onto both opponents. Riudge gets in and pounces Karl. Ridge front suplexes him then hit a northern lights bomb for 2. Luke punches Riley as he goes for a springboard. Riley dropkicks Ridge on accident and Karl pins Ridge.

Thoughts: The crowd doesn't like Ridge and until that changes, these matches with him are a complete waste of time. We'll see where this Ridge/Chase U thing goes.

We get a video on Carlee Bright. She says she's not all agility and smiles and they call her a ray of sunshine.

Lola Vice vs Carlee Bright

Lola leg kicks her then takes her down. CB rolls her up then crucifixes her. CB crossbodies her for 2 then shoulders her over. CB is on the ropes and is kicked, then she falls into the ring. Lola axe kicks her back. Petrovic and Natalya are watching this in the back and they seem to maybe be headed to the ring.

Lola euros her then CB backslides her for 2. Lola hits knees to the gut. Lola dances and CB rolls her up. CB hits lariats then dropkicks her. CB does a cartwheel kick then standing SSP's her for 2. CB comes off the buckles and is kicked in the gut. Lola then urakens her and wins it.

Thoughts: I would have liked CB to get more hype before coming in and and I would have liked her to get the win here. She did okay hitting her stuff clean but this could have done better.

Shayna Baszler and Lola attack CB after. Natalya and Karmen Petrovic come out to make the save. Nat asks where they are going and said she thought they were the baddest and most dangerous in NXT. Karmen asks for a tag match next week.

Chase U goes up to Ridge Holland after. Riley said it was an accident and his bad. Ridge said there's no hard feelings and he hopes they can trust him. Thea then hugs Ridge. Ridge and Riley shake hands. Riley doesn't seem to buy this.

Heritage Cup Match - Charlie Dempsey (c) vs Tony D'Angelo

Round 1
- Tony takes CD down and rolls him. Toy grabs the ankle then rolls him up for 2. Tony does a takedown slam. CD cravate snapmares him and rolls with the cravate on. Tony hiptosses him. CD shoulders him over. Tony drops down out of the full nelson and pins CD. Tony is up 1-0.

Round 2 - This begins during PiP break. CD takes him down. They double knuckle lock. CD straightjacket chokes him. CD slingshot sunset flips him but Ton holds on and punches him. They trade euros for punches. CD running knees him in the gut then butterfly suplexes him into an armbar.

Round 3 - Tony's arm is hurting from the armbar. CD throws him into the buckles shoulder first and euros the arm. Tony takes him down and is armbarred again. CD fujiwara armbars him. They both try pin attempts then CD backslides him with a bridge. Tony fireman's carry slams him then is sent into the buckles shoulder first. CD germans him and pins him. It's tied 1-1 now.

Round 4 - CD running euros him. CD works the arm and throws him down. CD hits elbows on the arm then stomps it into the mat. CD cradles him then keylocks him. Tony deadlift powerbombs him. Tony hits punches and belly to belly suplexes him. Tony spinebusters him and the round ends.

Round 5 - Tony running forearms him in the corner. Tony germans him. Borne and Kemp then come down and fight with Tony's crew. Tony helps his crew fight. Borne gets in the ring. Tony decks CD and Borne is back body dropped over the top on Kemp. CD backrolls Tony with a bridge. Tony hits a perfectplex and wins the fall. Tony D'Angelo wins the match 2 falls to 1 and is the Heritage Cup champ!

Thoughts: I thought they could have done a little more armwork here and worked with that story. The match wasn't anything too great. It was silly that Kemp and Borne were all messed up here with ripped clothes and goofy hair when they had time to get to the arena and change.

We cut to the back and Wes Lee, Josh Briggs and Ivar are down. Gallus then appears and says surprise, surprise, did you miss us? They say this is just the start.

Thoughts: It's Gallus. Their group worked much better in NXT UK than it does here. I don't see things going much different this time around than it did last time.

Overall thoughts: A lot of NXT's best got drafted and these are the first shows without people like Tiff, Bron, Melo and others. It's basically NXT 3.0 now with new names and younger talents. Because of it, the show was a little lackluster. People need time to get established and NXT has to figure out where everyone fits. The show wasn't that great and Trick/Lash is the only real interesting thing going on right now. I wouldn't recommend this.

TNA Xplosion 5/10/2024

TNA Xplosion 5/10/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/05/tna-xplosion-532024.html

Around the Ring with Gia Miller

Alan Angels is the guest this week. Alan and Gia call each other Al. Alan says he knows nothing but wrestling and isn't interesting. He says he's not as "yatted" (tattooed) as he wants to be. He says he got his first tattoo on his 18th birthday. His first tattoo says "not broke, just bent" and he said he got made fun of for it. He said it didn't come out as he wanted and said it's way darker than he wanted it to be. He says he hates all of his tattoos and said they are not the greatest tattoos. He says he wants more tattoos though.

Gia said she got a tattoo at 19 when it was allowed and has a Knockouts tattoo. Alan says he doesn't know what he wants his next tattoo to be. He says he wants to add more to his chest tattoo. Gia says he has to come back for Episode 2. Gia says he is into conspiracy theories, and says he doesn't think the moon landing is real and thinks the earth is flat. Alan correctly notes that he may get in trouble for that as there's some people would love to nail him for both.

Tasha Steelz vs Allie Katch

They lock up and roll on the ropes. Tasha waistlocks her and Allie turns it into a dance, getting Tasha mad. Tasha side headlocks her and tells her to "wiggle out of that". Tasha drops down and Allie sentons her back.

Allie slams her twice then low crossbodies her for 2. Tasha back elbows her then hits chops. Tasha running euros her in the corner. Tasha hooks her on the mat and Allie ropebreaks. Allie blocks a slingshot bulldog then Tasha hits a slingshot bulldog for 2.

Tasha gets on her back and Allie rams her backwards into the buckles. Allie back elbows her and butt presses her down in the corner. Allie corner splashes her then corner hip attacks her. Allie corner cannonballs her for 2.

Allie bridging ddt's her over the middle rope for 2. Tasha footslaps her and they trade forearms. Allie enzuigir's her and Tasha barely hits a pump kick. Tasha running forearms her. then Allie michinoku drivers her for 2. Tasha crucifix bombs her and wins it.

Thoughts: Not all of it looked good as usual though some of Allie's offense looked solid. It was just a so-so cold match that went on longer than it needed to.

Overall thoughts: There was only one new match as usual here and one new interview segment. The one match wasn't anything special and this one isn't worth seeing.

OLL Impacto 5/5/2024 Episode 1

OLL Impacto 5/5/2024 Episode 1

This is Orden Lucha Libre. They are from Chile. They are on a very nice TV set here.

Kathy Contreras welcomes us to the show. Don Pepex, Diego Aranis and Nicolas Matus are our commentators.

Fatal Four Way Qualifier - Eric Fox vs Chaky

They call Fox a murderous child. Chaky is called "El Rey Payaso" and wears a crown to the ring. He has a clown mask.

Chaky side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Fox leapfrogs then flying lariats him. Fox hits a corner lariat, a snapmare then a basement dropkick. Fox chops him then Chaky running facekicks him in the corner. Chaky asai moonsaults him for 2 then suplexes him for 2.

Chaky hits kicks to the body then baseball slides him in the corner for 2. Chaky backdrops him for 2. Chaky does a nice figure four variation and poses. Fox gets some shots in then corner lariats him. They trade running shots in the corner then Chaky superkicks him. Chaky poisonrana's him then misses a rope walk SSP. Fox pumping knees him then sitout powerbombs him for the win.

Thoughts: It was an indy, junior heavyweight style match. The action was fast paced and they hit their stuff clean, but there's wasn't much of a story or face/heel work here. Both guys moved pretty well here.

Mr. George comes out. I believe he's the GM of the show. The crowd boos George. He's a heel and callsthe crowd apes. They run a detox cream commercial during this on the screen. George brings out wrestlers who are part of a group called SII (Suprema Innovadora Inteligencia). The wrestlers are Seven, Rachel, Pandora and Adonis. George says they are wrestling superstars and are the Supreme Innovative Intelligence.

Sinner is brought out by one of the commentators to shill an energy drink. Sinner kind of has a viking look to him with facepaint.

Fatal Four Way Qualifier - Dylan Fabrizio vs Jin Kyle

Dylan says he has arrived and said Mr. Chile has arrived on the TV screen. He says he is ready for everything and is everything. He says hes not afraid of his opponent. He says he will take him out.

They lock up and Dylan clean breaks him. Jin shoves Dylan's face a little on the break. Dylan hammerlocks him and Jin ropebreaks. Jin side headlocks him and takes an armdrag and a slam. Jin slides out and Dylan goes after him. Dylan punches him outside.

Jin uppercuts him inside then running suplexes him for 2. Jin corner lariats him then running back elbows him. Jin kicks him in the back then basement dropkicks him in the corner. They trade chops then trade punches and forearms. Jin slingblades him for 2.

Jin chinlocks him and Dylan hits a nice dropkick. Dylan underhook suplexes him for 2. Jin doe a nice pump kick for 2. Jin grabs a chair from the commentators and brings it in the ring. The ref takes it and Dylan rolls up Jin for 2. Dylan tombstones Jin and wins it.

Thoughts: It was a little odd here. One would think Dylan is your cocky heel here but instead he was treated like a face and ended up winning. Dylan actually does seem to have some talent to him as he is decent looking and has personality. It was a slower paced match here with some rest holds. It was just average.

Dylan does a promo after. He said he feels incredible. He says he is going to do great things and says he will be known by everyone as Mr. Chile.

Los Nuevos Heroes come out as they put over sponsors. They put themselves over and talk about what a privilege it is to have them on the show. They seem to flirt with Kathy Contreas then Azagoth comes out with a torch and facepaint. Az says blessed are those who thirst and hunger for violence.  He puts over how wrestling is back on Chile TV. He says he will not tolerate idiots coming to disrespect the show. He says Heroes are marked with the curse of the underworld. He said wherever they go, the shadows of the underworld will try to curse them. He said he has a surprise and said the underworld lives and reigns forever. Kathy then poses with Az.

Thoughts: This segment was great. Azagoth is a great character and promo and Kathy was really funny posing with him and being dismissive of Heroes.

A wrestler named Lemmy Wulf is interviewed. He says he is here following his destiny to become the next champ. He says he is confident and has traveled all over Chile. He says a new champ will be crowned next week. The crowd was real into him.

Fatal Four Way Qualifier - Lemmy Wulf vs Pashenko vs Sinner

Lemmy is the "Final Boss of Lucha Libre". Sinner comes out before the match starts and the announcers basically say this has turned into a triple threat.

Pashenko and Wulf butt heads. Sinner boots both then Pash nails Sin. Wulf lariats Sin. Pash and Wulf trade punches. Sin is caught off a crossbody by Pash then Wulf boots both over. Wulf stomps Pash in the corner then stomps his arm.

Wulf corner lariats him then Sin hurricanrana's Wulf. Pash running back elbows Sin then stomps Wulf. Pash pounds on Wulf in the corner then Wulf double underhook suplexes him. Sin spin kicks Wulf then Wulf chops him. Sin flips out of a snapmare and is chopped. Wulf slams Sin.

Pash pounds on Wulf then hits a big lariat. Sin is thrown out then Pash corner stomps Wulf. Sin hits Pash from behind and hits leg kicks. Sin 2nd rope hurricanrana's him. Sin does a stiff flying forearm in the corner on Wulf. Sin 619's around the post to kick Wulf.

Sin asai moonsaults Wulf then Pash sitout powerbombs Sin. Wulf and Pash trade lariats and Wulf lariats him down. Wulf package backbreakers Pash for 2. Sin breaks it with a superkick to Wulf. Sin high kicks Wulf and then does a nice suplex. Sin goes up top then is distracted by Taylor Wolf outside and his buddy. Wulf nails Pash with a move that we can't see and pins him while Sin is distracted.

Thoughts: The camera crew missed the finish here though it didn't look like a great finish anyway. It was your usual three way with only 2 people going at it at a time. The finish killed the crowd. Sin's an indy style wrestler who flies and does lots of kicks and Pash/Wulf are two heavyweights.

Lemmy Wulf does a promo after. He asks why Taylor Wolf cost Sinner the match. Wulf says he was prepared and says he will be the next OLL champ.

Overall thoughts: The production was pretty good here with a great set that made everyone look like stars. Kathy Contreras is a fun host who has some personality. I thought Azagoth was the highlight of this show even though he didn't wrestle. The wrestling was a lot better than you would think, though it was indy. There weren't any botched moves and everyone looked seasoned. I wouldn't really recommend it but it was something different and I probably would watch another episode of it.

NWA Powerrr 5/14/2024

NWA Powerrr 5/14/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/05/nwa-powerrr-572024.html

Crockett Cup Play-In - Heavenly Butterflies (Faboo Andre and Tony Donati) vs The Cheese and Mike Orlando

Cheese throws cheese slices out to the crowd. Mike side headlock takeovers Tony and Tony armdrags him. Mike does it back and Tony rolls through a snapmare. Mike dropkicks Tony and the crowd chants, "We Want Cheese". Tony takes a double hiptoss and double elbow drop.

Tony pulls Mike down backwards then FA snapmares Cheese. FA running boots Cheese then Cheese slams FA. Cheese misses a 2nd rope move and takes a baseball slide. FA kneedrops and elbow drops Cheese.  FA boots Cheese and Cheese 2nd rope elbow drops FA.

Mike throws cheese at Tony then cutters FA. Tony hits back elbows on Mike then cheese splashes both opponents in the corner. Mike hits a samoan drop + ddt combo for 2. FA comes off the top and gets speared by Mike. Cheese reverse ddt's Tony and wins it.

Thoughts: I felt real bad for Mike here as the crowd only cared about Cheese. Cheese is mega over which isn't too surprising but he's not yet there in-ring wise. It was entertaining but not for the in-ring work.

Knox and Murdoch, Kratos and his partner are interviewed. Murdoch says his team should be in the top slot. Murdoch and Knox said they  kicked @ss last year in The Crockett Cup.

Kenzie Page and Thom Latimer talk about The Crockett Cup and present the Top 16 seeds. The seeds are:

16 - Play In

15 - Miserably Faithful

14 - The Slime Ballz

13 - The Kidz

12 - The Stew Crew

11 - The Country Gentlemen

10 - The Looks that Kill

9 - Max The Impaler and Judais

8 - The Fixers

7 - Jax Dane and Tim Storm

6 - The Savages of Samoa

5 - Daisy Kill and Talos

4 - The Immortals

3 - The Southern 6

2 - Knox and Murdoch

1 - Blunt Force Trauma

We go back to the 4 wrestlers. Kratos is happy about the #4 seed. He says they have been going through every team in the NWA but says they should be #1. Kratos says they have been on the heels of Knox and Murdoch since they came. Kratos says this is the time where Kratos can show that he is the best big man and Odinson is the strongest and best looking athlete in the world.

Aaron Stevens is interviewed. Aaron says BFT is #1 and the #1 tag team. He says #1 is the loneliest number you will ever see except when it comes to them. He says to feast your eyes on BFT.

Thoughts: There's two intergender teams there. I won't be watching those matches for sure. There's a few teams in there who haven't been used at all on the show since I started watching it.

Crocket Cup Play-In - The Spectaculars vs Cam Fox and Kai Price

Slade has his hold reversed and he trips his Cam Fox. Slade shoulders over Cam then Cam slingblades and dropkicks him. Kai Price basement dropkicks Slide then sliding lariats him. Brady Pierce distracts Kai and Kai is thrown off the top. Slade release germans Kai.

Brady hits corner lariats on Kai then throws him into the buckles chest first. Slade boots Kai in the gut then release suplexes him. Kai hits a boot out of the corner then Brady spinebusters him for 2.

Brady side headlocks Kai. Slade texas cloverleafs Kai. Cam gets in and dropkicks Slade. Cam springboard twisting lariats Brady. Cam sits Brady on the 2nd rope and neckbreakers him. Cam fisherman neckbreakers Slade. Kai top rope elbow drops Slade for 2.

Kai is pulled over the top. Kai is tripped on a hart attack attempt. Slade jumping knees Cam. Cam takes a russian legsweep + facekick and is pinned.

Thoughts: Fox and Price are a little green but it was okay. Slade really got in great shape and looks great out there. The NWA did not give us any info on Fox and price prior to this and it made it hard to figure out who was who for a while.

The Spectaculars are interviewed. Rolando Freeman says Rush Freeman ain't here no more. He says he replaced him with Brady Pierce. He says they are in the top percent and are going to have The Crockett Cup soon.

The King Bee's do a promo. They say they will defend the tag titles at The Crockett Cup. They say they want an all ladies Crockett Cup in 2025. They say there's an internet exclusive King Bee's match online this week too.

#1 Contender to the NWA National Title - Mims vs Zyon

They get off to a slow start here, backing each other up in the corners. Zyon shoves him then side headlocks him, using the hairto do it. Zyon shoulders Mims but Mims doesn't budge. Austin Idol is shocked by this. Zyon side headlocks him then Mims flying shoulders him. Mims shoulders him over.

Zyon is slammed then Mims splashes him for 2. Mims goes after Idol outside. Mims and Zyon fight then Mims hits shots to the gut. Mims suplexes him in. Zyon is down and pointing at his mask. Zyon evades Mims in the corner and short arm lariats him.

Zyon 2nd rope fist drops Mims. Idol cheap shots Mims. Mims hits chops on Zyon then is thrown shoulder first into the post. We go to break and return.

Zyon hits knees to Mims' back. Zyon eye rakes him and hits kicks to the body. Zyon fist drops him then neckbreakers him for 2. Mims goes to make a comeback and is elbowed in the head. Mims cradles Zyon for 2 then Zyon backslides him. Mims rolls up Zyon then headbutts him.

Mims back splashes Zyon then hits a running lariat. Mims backdrops Zyon and Idol puts Zyon's foot on the ropes. Mims worlds strongest slams Zyon. Zyon clips him then Las Vegas leglocks him. Mims reverses it then hits corner spears. Idol holds Zyon's boots on the buckles and stops him from behing thrown down. Zyon top rope crossbodies Mims then does his z-clutch and submits Mims.

Thoughts: It got off to a real slow start early and just dragged for me. The work was pretty simple here. I don't think it was bad but I just couldn't get into this.

EC3 has a major announcement. He says The Crockett Cup is shaping up to be a brilliant show. He talks about the show and says he will defend his title vs Sam Adonis. He asks Sam who he is to challenge him and says he's the greatest import to Mexico. He says Sam's time is here and said Sam will realize he's the greatest wrestler alive.

Thoughts: Sam hasn't been on this show for as long as I have been watching this. Why is he challenging for the title?

Overall thoughts: I wasn't a big fan of this one. They had 3 matches here. The main was long and slow. The 2nd match had some issues with Price and Fox being green and the NWA not giving them any TV time prior to this to explain who these guys were to us. The crowd was into the first match and while it was entertaining, it wasn't for the in-ring work. The show ran into its usual issues with the roster being too big, not much build to future matches and having random people on it with no introduction. I wouldn't recommend it.

WWE Monday Night Raw 5/13/2024

WWE Monday Night Raw 5/13/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/05/wwe-monday-night-raw-562024.html

We see Gunther, Kofi, Jey, Ilja and Drew arrive. Drew heads right to the ring.

The crowd chants for Punk. Drew said he won't show up here as he only makes the big towns. He said the greatest trick Punk ever pulled was to get you to trust him no matter how many times he breaks your trust. He says it's like an abusive relationship. He says if you are a CM Punk fan, you are stupid. He said last week Punk challenged him to a fight when he knew he wasn't here and called out Adam Pearce as a stooge for him. He said he will get his hands on him and says Punk will beg him to tear his tricep. He said he won't waste his time on a guy anymore who might not be cleared for 20 years.

He said Jey Uso lost another title match, Drew's title match. He said the top goal on his list is the title and calls Priest a paper champion.

Damian Priest comes out. He says Drew has serious issues. He said since he can't shut the hole in his face, he should say what he has to say to Priest's face. He said he'd love to but Punk runs away each week. Drew said Priest paid his dues and deserves his success but doesn't deserve to be champ. He said his neighbor is the same way. He said the title makes the man and said the title needs the man to take the title. He said it needs Drew McIntyre.

Drew said Priest knew he couldn't beat him 1v1 so he needed to use the briefcase. Priest said he is blaming himself for his failures. Drew calls him a BS champ and Priest says at least he's still a champ. Priest tells him to look in the mirror and blame that @sshole. Priest said he wanted to cash in Seth Rollins but Drew stopped him from cashing in multiple times and it's Drew's fault. Priest said Drew said if he was smart, he'd wait to cash in on Drew when he beat Seth and he said that's what he did.

He said Drew made Punk more important than his wife and got his arse whooped by a one-armed man. Priest says Drew's elbow will be healed and he'll get a shot at the title. Priest says Drew will eat his words about him being a paper champ when he's done with him.

Thoughts: Drew was good here as usual. I'm not real sure what they are doing with Priest though as it seems they are trying to turn him face and I don't think that's gonna work.

Thoughts: It was a good match and much much better than the usual women's offerings. They worked pretty well together and there were no botches or screw ups here.

Iyo is interviewed in the ring. She speaks in Japanese and that's it. She then says she will be queen into the camera after.

Judgment Day are with Carlito in the hangout. Priest comes in.  Dom says it's a good time for them to work together. Carlito said they all agree that Rey Mysterio is a selfish b@stard. Priest said he's not welcome here but if the boys want to work with him he's okay with it.

Carlito says he gets it. He says the most stubborn minds can be changed and said maybe one day they can all be amigos.

Alpha Academy talk in the back. Chad mocks Maxxine for losing a Queen of the Ring match. He said she learned nothing. He said he got some matches set up - Otis vs Sami Zayn so Otis could work over Sami. He said he needs serious Otis, not the dancing Otis. He says Tozawa has a big opportunity against Bronson Reed and better not blow it. He then threatens him over doing his dance.

Ivy Nile comes in and talks to Maxxine. Max says Gable doesn't want her training outside the academy anymore. Chad walks in and tells Max to go do something, anything. Chad says Ivy has potential and to stop wasting her time with "Taylor, not so Swift".

The New Day are interviewed. He says tonight is about payback and to give Gunther what he deserves for what he did to Woods. He said he fought Rey Mysterio last night and said there is no room for failure or self doubt in the ring. He said KOTR means a lot to Woods. He says he will show him why New Day rocks.

Kofi top rope crossbodies him. Gun crabs him then Kofi ranhei's him for 2. Gun dropkicks him in the back then rainmakers him for 2. Gun wraps Kofi around the ring post. Kofi corkscrew kicks him on the floor.

Kofi misses a corkscrew kick and is powerbombed. Gun then turns it into a crab. Kofi then taps out.

Thoughts: Gunther was good here working the back all throughout. Kofi worked the knee early then forgot about it. I thought it was a little long though after following the longer Iyo/Shayna match.

Lyra Valkyria is interviewed. She said she kick started her time on Raw and sent a message to Damage Ctrl. She said she will back up Becky anytime she needs it. Becky comes in, thanks her and says "Fighting Irish". Liv Morgan comes in. She congratulates her and welcomes her. She says she will have fun on Raw. Liv asks if Becky has always been such a b!tch. Lyra tells her to ask her herself, Becky shows up behind her and punches her. Becky said she's not the one who is scared of a face to face fight and calls her a b!tch.

Karrion Kross talks ot Kofi. He says it was a otugh loss and says there's always more time to turn things around. Woods gives Kofi ice and Kofi said he doesn't know what Kross wants.

Bronson Reed vs Akira Tozawa

Reed misses a charge. Toz hits some shots, slides through his leg and hits kicks. Toz top rope dropkicks Reed and rips off his own shirt. Gable calls him an idiot and says he didn't teach him that. Toz flips onto Reed and is caught with a death valley driver. Reed top rope splashes Toz and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was a quick squash as expected.

Chad Gable gets in the ring after. He yells at him.

Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther talk in the back. Gun walks away from an interviewer and Kaiser berates the interviewer. Kaiser says Gunther doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. He says if Sheamus believes he lost the match with Gunther due to Kaiser last week, he must be delusional. Kaiser said Sheamus had a legendary career but never beat Gunther. He said it never happened and never will happen. Kaiser said he will put Sheamus out of his misery and embarrass him in front of the world.

Adam Pearce is interviewed by Jackie. New Catch Republic comes in. Bate thanks Pearce for an opportunity tonight. Pearce welcomes them to Raw. Pearce says the tag division has a new look and he set up a fatal four way tonight for a tag title shot. Pearce is asked why Bron Breakker wasn't in King of the Ring. Pearce says he has unlimited potential. He said his guys in it deserved it and he didn't want to shove Bron in at the highest level. Bron says he wouldn't have been in the deep end with them, they would have been in it with him. He said he would have dragged them all underwater and drowned them. He said he should have been in the tournament.

Queen of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinal Match - Lyra Valkyria vs Zoey Stark

Lyra backs her up and they shove each other. Lyra goes up and over then armdrags her. Lyra back elbows her off the buckles then armdrags her. Zoey piefaces her then Lyra hurricanrana's her.

They go out and Zoey lariats her on the floor. We go to break and return. Zoey springboard dropkicks her then cravates her. Lyra hits strikes and step up enzugiri's her. Lyra dropkicks her through the ropes and top rope crossbodies her.

Lyra tornado ddt's her. Both miss kicks and Lyra is high kicked. Zoey hits a release half-nelson suplex for 2. Lyra spinning heel kicks her then Zoey suplexes her into the buckles. They slap each other and Zoey spinkicks her. Lyra cradle shocks her for the win.

Thoughts: There wasn't a lot of selling here but it was a rather athletic match and impressive for the women. The two worked well together and had a long and solid match.

Lyra is interviewed after. She says something bizarre in gaelic that I didn't understand and says she travels as the crow flies - right to the top.

Jey Uso does a promo. He says Drew McIntyre couldn't cut it and Finn Balor got the yeetdown. He welcomes Ilja Dragunov but says he's getting this work too. He says Gunther will get it next week and he will be the new King of the Ring.

Otis vs Sami Zayn

Otis backs him up in the corner then Sami hit chops and forearms. Otis does wild bolo punches and clubs him down. Otis spinning back elbows him then corner splashes him.

Otis goes for the caterpillar. Gable gets on the apron and yells at him not to do it. Otis does it and elbow drops Sami off of it. Chad gets back on the apron and yells at Otis. Otis misses a vader bomb then Sami corner face kicks him for the win.

Thoughts: It was super short and disappointing due to the length. I thought they should have had Otis miss the caterpillar drop and get pinned off of it.

Chad yells at Otis after. He piefaces him. Sami comes in and exploders Chad into the buckles. Chad then rolls out before taking more damage. Chad tells Otis this is his fault and slaps him.

Braun Strowman goes up Ivy Nile and The Creed's. He wishes them good luck in the tag match tonight. He says to look at the pythons on Ivy. JD McDonaugh goes up to Braun. Kai hits shots and BL hits some back while Kai is between the ropes. BL 2nd rope guillotine legdrops her while she's over the middle rope.

Kai pump kicks her in the chest for 2.  BL superplexes her then armbars her. They try pins on each other and Becky armbars her. Damage Ctrl then attacks BL for the DQ.

Lyra comes out to save Becky after. She stares down with Iyo and Becky lariats Iyo. Liv Morgan then throws Becky into the post and leaves

Thoughts: This match was ugly. Nothing they did looked good and it was a super sloppy match. They did the most basic of moves too here which makes it even worse.

Jackie Redmond interviews Ilja Dragunov. Ilja said some people say it's a dream or destiny to be here. Ilja says it's not enough to be here. He's here to make an impact and says it starts with him becoming the Czar of the Ring. He says he brought the fight to Ricochet and will do the same to Jey Uso tonight. He said what is waiting on the other side is a different kind of animal. He says he's a different kind of animal and has beaten Gunther. He says he and Gunther have a long history together and says it is not over.

Gunther then shows up behind him and stares him down. Gunther laughs and leaves.

#1 Contenders to the Tag Titles - Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD Mcdonaugh) vs The Creed Brothers vs The Authors of Pain vs New Catch Republic

Miz and Truth are out there watching this. Finn hits shots on Bate. JD stomps Bate in the corner. Bate uses the ropes to headscissor JD. JD takes a double back body drop. Dunne pulls on JD's fingers and stomps the arm into the mat. The Creed's hit knees and a double gutbuster on JD. AOP get in and hit lariats. Bate takes a super high spinebuster then Dunne is slammed on Bate. Bate is double hiptossed outside onto people. We go to break and return.

Finn works Brutus in the corner. Julius gets in and hits belly to belly suplexes and kip ups on Judgment Day. He then knocks AOp off the apron. Julius hits double northern lights suplex then a running ssp on Finn. Finn rolls up Julius then slingblades him.

Julius takes a john woo dropkick. Dunne and Bate moonsault off the ropes and buckles. Julius jumps up to the top and top rope superplexes Finn for 2. JD and Finn take a super collider. Bate and Dunne are pushed over the top. Brutus backdrops an AOP then Brutus hits a brutus ball off the top to the floor. Bate rebound lariats an AOP then airplane spins an AOP. Finn takes a double sitout powerbomb and Bate tope con hilos JD through the ropes. Dunne pounds on JD on the commentary table.

Carlito gets on the commentary table and backcrackers Dunne (that had to hurt Carlito more). Finn hits a top rope double stomp on Dunne and wins it.

Thoughts: It was a wild and fast paced four way as expected. It probably needed more time but was action packed and fun. Although Carlito's run-in was stupid, at least it continues the storyline.

Ilja Dragunov and Ricochet talk in the back. Ric says last week was one hell of a fight but the outcome will be different next time. He wishes him good luck and says go get the crown.

Damian Priest tals to Dom in the back. JD, Finn and Carlito come in. Carlito is thanked for his efforts by Finn and JD. Carlito goes to leave and says he's not wanted. Priest says what happened out there was cool. Priest asks if Carlito will handle his business and says the crew doesn't roll with cowards. He says "don't let us down, amigo". They get excited that Priest called Carlito "amigo".

King of the Ring Tournament Quarterfinals - Jey Uso vs Ilja Dragunov

Drag = Ilja Dragunov.

They lock up. Jey misses a spinning enzugiri and Drag spinning chops him. Drag hits a flying knee in the corner and 2nd rope kneedrops Jey. Drag is hit on the buckles then Drag is toped into the commentary table. Drag jumping front kicks him. jey is put on the table and Drag misses an h-bomb onto it. Jey then spears Drag onto and over the commentary table.

We go to break and return. Drag abdominal stretches Jey then Jey hiptosses him. They trade shots and Jey hits punches. Jey spinning enzugiri's him. Drag jumping kicks Jey as Jey goes for the spear. Drag germans him and Jey superkicks him. Jey uppercuts him then takes an enzugiri. Drag tiger feint lariats him for 2.

Drag hits chops then facewash kicks him. Jey superkicks him. Drag running knees him then throws him on a powerbomb. Drag h-bombs him for 2. Drag runs at him and is speared. Jey top rope splashes him and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was a good match here as expected. I doubt it drew great ratings and putting Drag in big matches like this is a bit brave. Jey does need to add some moves if he is going to be doing singles as he is very reliant on superkicks and it limits how good his match quality is. I think we will see where Drag really ends up from here as he will probably not be in such a big spot next week.  Jey's ear got busted open here as his ear piercing got ripped.

Gunther gets in the ring and stares down Jey after.

Overall thoughts: It was a heavy wrestling show here but the matches were good. It felt like a longer show due to having so many longer matches. I liked it overall though and would recommend it.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 12/1/1990

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 12/1/1990

Last week's show is here:  https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/05/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-11241990.html

Roddy Piper and Vince McMahon welcome us to the show. They are in the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis Arena. They say this is where Elvis had his last show. He says Piper isn't nothing but a hound dog and they agree this is bad material.

The Texas Tornado vs The Brooklyn Brawler

They shove each other. Kerry is backed up off the lock up. He blocks a punch then threatens Brawler with one of his own. Kerry hits armdrags and backs him up. Brawler hits punches and eye rakes. Kerry hits punches then back body drops him. Kerry snapmares him and kneedrops him.

Kerry drops him with a punch and hits him in the gut. Kerry discus punches him and picks up the win.

Thoughts: It was a lame squash here with almost nothing but punches.

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

Survivor Series is on VHS on 12/20. Gene talks about Kane "The Undertaker". We see clips of Taker's debut at Survivor Series 1990. Gene says he's absolutely awesome. Gene says he will be managed by Brother Love. Brother Love and The Undertaker do a promo. Love says he's almost 7 feet tall and Taker says he will bury any man in his way. Gene says it makes sense that Love would be the man behind Taker, but I don't know how. They mostly referred to Taker as "Kane" here.

"The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase vs Jim Evans

Ted knees him in the gut and clubs his back. Ted back elbows him, snapmares him and kneedrops him. Ted hits a piledriver and throws him out. Ted does an inset promo. He said he promised a surprise at Survivor Series and says oh what a surprise. He said he showed the power of his wealth again and said Kane The Undertaker will wreak havoc on the WWF. Ted back body drops Jim and suplexes him.

Ted slams him then does a fist drop. Ted eye rakes him and clotheslines him. Ted then puts him in the million dollar dream and wins.

Thoughts: It was just a quick squash with Ted looking good and Jim getting nothing in.

We see clips of the Gobbledy Gooker segment from Survivor Series. Piper says he loves him.

Shane Douglas vs "Iron" Mike Sharpe

We haven't seen Shane since he debuted. Mike eye rakes him and clubs him. Shane monkey flips him then hits armdrags. Shane slingshots him in. Mike misses a kneelift and Shane hits elbow drops for 2. Mike clubs on him and chokes him over the top rope.

Mike pulls him backwards. Shane blocks a boot and is eye raked. Mike knees him then back body drops him. Shane bangs Mike's head off the buckles. Mike misses a dropkick then Shane top rope crossbodies him. Shane picks up the win.

Thoughts: It was more of a short match than a squash. Mike maybe got more in than Shane did here and it didn't do a ton to make Shane look great.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

They hype up the 12/8/90 Boston Garden show. Sean says The Gooker will be there. He say Demolition is only two members strong now, confirming the departure of Ax. The Barbarian and Bobby Heenan do a promo. He says he doesn't like The Big Boss Man. He says Heenan will enjoy watching Boss screaming. Barb says they have business to take care of. Heenan says The Boston Garden has all kinds of history with retired jerseys and says he will run Boss Man's striped shirt up there.

Jake Roberts does a promo. He says he knows what to expect with Brother Love and says he knows Rick Martel will be there. He says Rick Martel pushed the wrong button and stepped to the wrong man. He says when you look at the evil in a man's face, it's just a little too late.

Tugboat vs Jeff Sword

Jeff was a territory vet and a partner of Doug Vines, who was on the show a few weeks ago. Jeff is pushed over and they shill the Hulkamania Forever VHS. Tug shoulders Jeff over twice then beale throws him. Tug hits a standing dropkick.

Tug splashes him in the corner then slams him. Tug hits a big splash and gets the pin.

Thoughts: It was all one sided here with Jeff getting nothing in before being beaten.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

They hype up the 12/8/90 Boston Garden show. The Rockers do a promo on Demolition. Shawn says the final word on Demolition is Crush and Smash. Shawn says everyone knows what they are like but no one wants to test the water. Shawn says they are thrillseekers. They said they will try it out and try anything once. Mart says he doesn't know if they will wrestle straight down the line or break the rules but assumes the latter. He says to get ready for a knockdown, drag out party.

Jimmy Hart and Earthquake do a promo on Hulk Hogan. He says he's not running from him, he'll charge him. He says he has a lot of pain to give him. He says he will hurt his ribs and sternum and says there will be deja vu when he's put on the stretcher. He says there will be no coming back this time for Hulk.

Power and Glory vs Dan Robins and Alan Reynolds

Piper says P&G could be the next tag champs. Herc takes off Roma's shirt. Vince says maybe, but he has to disagree as it better happen quick. He says The Hart Foundation is building up momentum. Herc boots a jobber, slams him and elbow drops him. Roma double underhook suplexes the jobber.

The other jobber gets in and Roma hits a nice dropkick. Power and Glory do an inset promo. Slick says there can be no denial where there is dedication and commitment. Roma says they always get what they want. Herc says it's only a matter of time until they take the titles from The Hart Foundation.

Herc hits a big lariat then gorilla press slams a jobber. P&G hit the powerplex. Roma then poses on the jobber and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was your usual P&G squash here with Roma hitting a nice dropkick and the jobber taking a powerplex.

We get a WWF Royal Rumble 1991 ad.

The Brother Love Show

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is today's guest. Love says some people consider Jim a great American but says he is soon to be a casualty for Sgt. Slaughter. He then brings Jim out. Love calls him "Doogan".

Jim says he's mad. He says he sees Iraqi people messing with the flag and yelling death to America. He says at home he sees gas at $2 a gallon and signs of a recession. He says he sees a mercenary in the WWF named Sgt. Slaughter who takes orders from an Iraqi.

Jim says he will kick butt if he gets his hand on Sarge or Adnan and says that's an order.

"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka vs Doug Vines

Jimmy Hart joins the commentary team. Vince asks Jimmy if he was here when Elvis had his last performance. He said he was a big fan until his favorite musician came along - himself. Snuka chops Doug. Jimmy is asked why he doesn't manage Snuka. He said he doesn't have the killer instinct. Snuka hits punches and headbutts on Doug. Snuka boots Doug in the gut then slams him.

Snuka knee drops Doug. Snuka hits a superfly splash off the top and gets the win.

Thoughts: I'm not sure why Hart was on commentary here. It was just a quick squash.

The Orient Express vs Albert Bissel and Gary Jackson

Jimmy Hart is still on commentary. Tanaka chops Albert then Sato boots Albert. Mr. Fuji does an inset promo. He said he has a special warning for Legion of Doom. He says they don't know what he will do in the ring against him.

Gary hits corner spears on Tanaka then takes a back elbow. Tanaka hits a nice snapmare and stomps him. Sato snpamares Gary and splashes his neck/shoulders. Sato stomps Gary. Tanaka chops Gary over and backfists him. Tanaka corkscrew forearms him then Sato side kicks Gary. Sato sitout powerbombs Gary and wins it.

Thoughts:
Gary took some rough looking moves here with the splash on the neck and the sitout powerbomb. It was just a quick squash otherwise. Vince and Piper asked Hart about what Earthquake's diet is. He said he may have him add 20 pounds for Hulk.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

They hype up the 12/8/90 Boston Garden show. Demolition does a promo with Mr. Fuji on The Rockers. Fuji says he's now the manager of Demolition. Crush says this is the new Demolition and The Rockers are on the list to be demolished. Smash says they all will be in one corner then Fuji will tap the cane and The Rockers will get their teeth kicked in.

Tugboat does a promo on Dino Bravo. He said Dino is along for the ride like barnacles on a ship. He says Dino will do whatever he can think of in his nasty mind to win a match. He said he can't win without Hart and Quake. He said he will give Dino the worst beating he has ever had in his life.

Vince, Piper and Jimmy Hart close the show. Piper pokes Jimmy's keyboard drawing on his jacket and it makes noise. Piper then plays a tune on the jacket and Vince joins in. Hart yells at them to put him down.

Overall thoughts: Not much at all went on here besides Demolition officially being reconciled with Mr. Fuji. We kind of knew that though as Fuji was with Demolition at Survivor Series 1990. It was a weird show with Jimmy Hart being on commentary, all of the Elvis references, the ending and not too much happening. Warrior as usual was nowhere to be found on here despite being champ and Savage wasn't on here either. I wouldn't recommend this.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 11/24/1990

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 11/24/1990

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/05/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-11171990.html

Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper welcome us to the show. Piper says Warrior put it all on the line against Ted Dibiase. He said he also received some unexpected royalty payments from Macho King. He said money didn't make the world go round but it made Warrior's head spin.

Mr. Perfect vs Reno Riggins

Bobby Heenan does an inset. He said he apologized to Boss Man and his mother and meant it. He said he's sorry...sorry he didn't kick his teeth in when he had a chance. Reno reverses a hold and Perfect grabs him by the throat.

Reno slams Perfect and dropkicks him for 2. Reno hiptosses him then Perfect knee drops Reno's knee. Heenan towels off perfect's face then Perfect hits a perfectplex to win it.

Thoughts: It was just a quick squash here. Reno got a little in though here which was nice and made this more interesting than then usual squash.

Perfect gets shots in on Reno after.

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

Gene talks about the Demolition/LOD/Orient Express brawl from a few weeks ago. Jack Tunney makes a statement on this. He says Mr. Fuji breached ethics by instigating the intrusion of Demolition into the match. He says effective immediately, Demolition is on probation. He says Demolition will be limited to 2 and only 2 members. He says never again will there be 3 members of Demolition anywhere, anytime. He says The Orient Express must fulfill Demolition's obligations against The Legion of Doom in 3v2 handicap matches with Mr. Fuji wrestling.

Thoughts: This marks the end of the Demolition/Legion of Doom feud and is a way to write off Demolition Ax, who had just quit at Survivor Series 1990. As someone watching this show weekly, it sucks that aren't going to get the Demolition/LOD match that has been built up for months and months now. I'm not sure why they just didn't fire Ax on TV here and blame him for the attack.

The British Bulldog vs Paul Diamond

Piper says he loves The Gobbledy Gooker. Paul wristlocks him. Davey does an inset. He said it's great to be back in the WWF and thanks the fans for the support. Davey rolls out of a wristlock, headflips and wristlocks Paul. Paul forearms him and Davey monkey flips him. Vince says Brother Love will not be here today.

Davey wristlocks Paul. Paul hits punches then Davey hits a running powerslam to win.

Thoughts: It was a quick squash. It's a shame we didn't get a longer match out of it as Paul was definitely apt.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

Sean Mooney hypes up the 12/8/1990 "Night of Mega Matches" Boston Garden show. The Big Boss Man does a promo. He says time is coming soon for Heenan. He says he will go through Barbarian to get through in. Boss says he's fighting with honor and says he won't let Heenan get away with messing with his family. He said he's not playing games with Barb and will make sure Barb and Heenan serve hard time.

Dino Bravo does a promo. He says Hulk won't be around to help Tug. He says he will punish him. He said he better come with his big guns loaded and said he will hurt him.

"The Model" Rick Martel vs "Pistol" Pez Whatley

Jake Roberts does an inset promo. He said he doesn't have special plans for Rick, just to take from him what he took from Jake, just for a while. He said Rick has to face him face to face after sacrificing his team against Jake at Survivor Series.

They lock up. Rick is backed up on the ropes and punches Pez. Rick slams and stomps Pez. Rick then chokes him. Pez is thrown out to the floor. Rick tries to tie Pez up in the ropes but fails. Rick hits corner spears and snapmares him. Rick kneedrops him then Pez does a nice dropkick.

Rick's head is banged off the buckles. Pez misses a dropkick then Rick boston grabs him. Rick then gets the pin.

Thoughts: It was not Rick's best work here as he had trouble getting Pez tied up in the ropes and just looked off. Pez had a good showing though and upstaged Rick.

Dustin Rhodes vs The Black Demon

Dusty is with Dustin. Demon pounds on Dustin then Dustin back body drops Demon. Demon takes a hiptoss and Dustin dropkicks him out. Dustin suplexes him in. Ted Dibiase and Virgil do an inset promo. Ted said he left The Rhodes' laying twice. He says he will own both of them and says everyone's got a price.

Dustin nails Demon out of the corner, corner lariats him then bulldogs him. Dustin picks up the win.

Thoughts: Dustin was also a little off here and they had a noticeable botch off the ropes. Demon looked good here.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

More hype for the 12/8/90 show. Hulk Hogan does a promo on Earthquake. He said when his hulksters see him, it's like they saw a ghost. He says they can't believe the size of his pythons. He says they can't believe he's alive and well after all of the stuff he went through. He says it's the 90's. He says Hulkamania ruled through the 80's and will rule through the 90's. He says there's a fourth demandment - believing in yourself. Hulk says there's a new generation of hulkamaniacs and he wants to groom them. He said when he slams Quake and the earth opens, he will realize that Hulkamania is here to stay.

The Legion of Doom vs Black Bart and Kent Carlson

The LOD nail the jobbers. This feed then cuts out for a little. Hawk hits a knee lift on Kent then gorilla press slams him. Animal powerslams Kent then elbow drops him. Animal corner lariats Kent then belly to belly suplexes him. Piper says The Gobbledy Gooker was the best thing since Santa Claus and said the kids loved him. Kent takes a doomsday device and is pinned.

Thoughts: Bart never officially got in minus when he got nailed as it started. Kent got nothing in and it was a quick squash. Piper is doing some hardcore lying about The Gooker here.

We see clips of Ted Dibiase vs The Ultimate Warrior from The Main Event, which I saw here.

Tito Santana vs Sgt. Slaughter

General Adnan talks in his language before the match. Sarge boots and clubs on Tito. Tito's head is banged off the buckles. Sarge running back elbows him. Tito back body drops Sarge then slams him. Tito hits armdrags then yanks on his arm.

Tito hits corner spears. Sarge is thrown into the buckles chest first and flops down onto his gut. Sarge bends over and Tito nails him. Tito flying forearms Sarge. Tito goes for the pin and Adnan stabs Tito with his flag. Tito grabs Adnan and Adnan backs off. Sarge backdrops Tito off the ropes then camel clutches him for the win.

Thoughts: The ref somehow not seeing Adnan was pretty lame and hard to buy. This was short and wasn't much.

Tito is tied up in the ropes after. Sarge decks the ref and throws him out. Sarge says he doesn't know how Tito got here and says he doesn't belong here. He says this is the heartland of America. He says he doesn't know how the Irish, Spanish and Italians got in this country and says he wishes he would get out of his country. He says Tito should salute the Iraq flag and tells him to. Tito spits on the flag. Sarge pokes him with the flag pole in the gut. Jim Duggan comes out and hits the flag with a 2v4. The heels then run off. Duggan breaks the flag and stomps on it after. Duggan does a promo after saying he sees different types of people, but just sees Americans.

The Barbarian vs Jeff Kramer

Barb hits chops on Jeff. The Big Boss Man does an inset promo.  He says the noose is tightening around Heenan's neck. He said there is no way any family member will stand in the way of him getting his hands around Heenan's neck.

They battle over a hiptoss and Barb suplexes Jeff. Barb hits a nice boot to the face. Barb top rope diving shoulders Jeff and wins it.

Thoughts: It was just a quick squash here with Jeff not getting anything in.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

More push for the 12/8/90 Boston Garden show. Brother Love and Rick Martel do a promo. Rick said he had a gift for Jake on The Brother Love Show last time - a white cane. He said he may have another gift, but it'll be a surprise. Love calls Rick a lovely human being. He says they will show all of Boston how much they love Jake in Boston.

The Hart Foundation do a promo. Bret said Roma and Herc used to be friends with everyone, then they changed their name and got an attitude problem. Bret says they don't mix with anyone and found themselves on the other side of the tracks. Anvil says Power and Glory want what they have. Anvil says good luck.

Vince and Piper close the show, running down next week's show. They say Brother Love will bring Kane on the show next week. Piper said he got to meet The Gobbledy Gooker and Vince says we'll hear more about that next week.

Overall thoughts: It wasn't a good show. They lied about The Gooker being this great thing all throughout the show. The wrestlers were off in their squashes and the Demolition/Legion of Doom feud ended in Jack Tunney's office, not in the ring. I wouldn't recommend this one.
